What is SEO? On Page SEO & Off Page SEO

We will discuss what is SEO, its Types, and what are the Good Practices Related to SEO that can help you to Make your website or Blog Rank on the First Page of Google. so Let's get started.


What is SEO?

Basically, in simple words, SEO is a way of telling the search engine that your website or blog is Better and more relevant then millions of other websites or blogs out there on the internet. And how do you do that? By performing Optimisations on the website or Posts that are ON Page SEO and Outside the website that is Off-Page SEO. By doing this, search engines prefer and rank your website/Blog higher than any other website or blog out there on the internet. And the direct advantage of Ranking high on Google is you gain organic 'TRAFFIC'. Yes! You get a huge amount of organic search traffic. And who doesn't want Organic Traffic right?



Types of SEO

As I explained above, there are Optimisations done on the website or within the website which are called on Page SEO. Whereas, there are optimizations done outside the website which are called as Off-page SEO. Both are very important if you want your website or Blog to Rank on the first page of Google. So, we'll discuss them one by one.



On-Page SEO

On-Page SEO is the settings and optimizations done within or on the website. These optimizations or settings are done within the Meta of the website. these Internal settings help the search engine to better read your website's data which indirectly helps in search Rankings


Good Practices Related to On-Page SEO


#1 Title

Always keep your post title as simple as possible and use the phrase which people are more likely to search


#2 Make Use of heading tags

Always make use of heading tags such as H1 h2 Etc. Text wrapped in heading tags are read first  by the search engines


#3 Meta Tags

Always make use of Meta tags to provide the information to the search engine such as Meta title, meta description, meta keywords, etc. This helps search engines to relate your blog or website based on the keywords and search.


#4 Image optimization

Always optimize the images you use inside your blog or website. Make sure you give an "Alt" tag to all the images. Always compress the images before using them so that they load faster. A fast loading website or blog is given priority rather than a slow one.


#5 Article uniqueness

Always write a unique article or post. Search engines will never Rank you if your information is exactly similar to or copied from other similar information on the internet. Always provide some value to the reader by your posts. Studies show that articles that are 100% unique are more likely to rank on Google.


#6 Article length 

Make sure your article is of more than 500 words. Generally, an article of 1000-1500 is considered a Good one for Rankings. The more information you provide through your article, the more its going to rank high


#7 Permalink

Always make sure you use a Relatable permalink. For example, if you are explaining about computers the permalink can be what-is-computer. A good permalink is considered as an important factor in SEO


#8 Interlinking

Always sure you interlink your posts with other articles on your websites or blog. Suppose you are writing an article on dogs. You can do interlinking on your article on the best food for dogs. Doing this will help you in two ways. Firstly it will keep the user engaged on your website or blog and secondly interlinking tells the search engines that this information is more relevant and contains relevant information about the topic a user is searching.



Off-Page SEO

In this type of SEO, Optimisations are done outside the website or blog. These optimizations are generally Related to the process of increasing your website or blog authority. See it's simple, Google is not going to Rank you if your website is not trustworthy or it provides untrustful or incorrect information.



Good Practices Related to On-Page SEO



#1 Commenting on other websites

You can comment on other websites or blogs which are similar to your topic. This increases the chance that  whenever user visit their website they may visit yours by following a link


#2 Use Social media

Share your post and website URL on social media platforms to get the reach. You can get a lot of traffic through social media.


#3 Build backlinks

Create backlinks that point to your website. The more backlinks you will have. The more you are to rank higher on Google. Basically, backlinks is a way of telling Google that your site is trusted by other sites that provide you a backlink.


#4 Reach another influencer

You can reach out to other influencers and ask them to share a link to your website on their website or social media. This will help you gain traffic as well as authority. And indirectly help you in SEO
